The Practice of PDIA: Building Capability by Delivering Results (Online Series), The Building State Capability (BSC) program, Center for International Development (CID), 79 JFK St. Cambridge, MA 02138, Harvard University.
- The BSC program is exploring the potential of a Problem Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA) approach, which rests on four core principles: a) local solutions for local problems, b) pushing problem-driven positive deviance, c) Try, learn iterate, adapt and 4) scale through diffusion. The program has a total of 14 Module sequentially put: 1) Capability for Policy Implementation, 2) Techniques of Successful Failure, 3) Building the Capability you need, 4) PDIA to Escape, 5) People as the Source of Capability in PDIA (and beyond), 6) Constructing Problems, 7) Deconstructing Problems, 8) Sequencing: Identifying your Change Space, 9) Sequencing: Finding Potential Entry Points, 10) Agency and Authorization, 11) How is your team doing? 12) Crawling the Design Space and Iteration, 13) First Iteration and 14) Second Iteration.
